Better Beginnings - 2019

Welcome to 2019! Let me tell you about the start to my year, or I guess the first 2 weeks for 2019. I had the fun experience of getting food poisoning for the first time got laid off from my dream job before it officially started and got first hand experience on what it really feels like to deal with people who take you for granted. People who when you reach out decide that what you’re going through is just a factor called life and leave you feeling so isolated that it makes it hard to get through the day.

But despite all of this, I’ve decided to keep what small light of hope I have, to looking forward to better beginnings. I think it was towards the last quarter of 2018 that I brought up this statement of better beginnings. Life is a crazy roller coaster and I don’t think I’ve fully understood that like I have over the past year.

I’ve never been a huge believer in the universe being a big deciding factor in what happens in your life. Instead, I believe that we ultimately decides what happens. I’m a firm believer in trusting my gut, you know that feeling you get in the pit of your stomach that lets you know that things are either a really great idea, or a big sign that you should run for the hills.

So I guess, what I’m trying to say is that for me 2019 will be all about taking control. It’s about setting big goals, but having low expectations (because boy did I have some big ones). Plus, if you’re still struggling to find some new year resolutions you can start by having a peek at mine.

2019 goals:

- Set big goals but have low expectations

- Realise that I am worth fighting for

- Go on a solo trip (either national or international)

- Find an exercise regime and stick to it

- Find a stable job

- Climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge

- Donate blood

- Get my second tattoo

So hopefully that leaves you with some sort of inspiration. But if not, I’ll leave you with this quote from one of my favourite childhood authors. “There are far, far better things ahead than anything we leave behind” - C.S. Lewis

So here’s to better beginnings, here’s to a brighter outlook, here’s to 2019!

Let me know in the comments your New Year goals and how your year has started off. Has it been good, bad, unbearable, have you fallen in love, been heart broken, lost old friends, gained new ones. The list is endless…
